Ravensong Retreat
The Story of Ravensong 2025
The Winter hit hard in January with much snow and frigid temperatures. The snow shoeing in the woods was beautiful and the Spruce & Hemlock trees held the snow with such grace.
The wood stove kept Ravensong cozy as the winds and storms ravished the land. The snow was more than I had ever seen. The trees suffered the most with many causalities.Their fallen branches became the frames to my art pieces as a dedication.
Spring came and I thought the snow would never melt. It did.
The Last snow shoe & first kayak came the same day mid April
Willow & Dogwood were planted along the rivers edge which Beaver decided to feast on, but many survived and thrived.
Coltsfoot took over, as did Comfrey. Wild leek was plentiful, as was Wild Violet and both made their way into many recipes.
Wormwood protected some delicate plants and Artemis, my Mugwort ally, popped up everywhere. She surrounded me and continued to be my muse. Her cuttings in a vase kept me company as I painted in my outside studio and her leaves made their way into my paintings. As did wild Daisy
Deer were plentiful, groundhog became a familiar and comforting friend. Bear showed up in June and kept me on my toes. We co-existed respectfully. Humming bird never left my side.
The Ivory Silk tree was incredibly beautiful and brought me to my knees many times as I got the reminder of why it was there. It is Alex's tree.
The River was my saviour as she washed away so much and carried me through.
White Pine & Birch held me tight and provided comfort.
The gardens I let do what they wanted this year. Garlic is planted with sacred prayers of a better year in 2026 for all.
Wishing everyone a beautiful Solstice, a bright and hopeful New Year
